After School Activity Clubs

After School Activity Clubs are run throughout the Autumn Term. Children are asked to register and they are given the opportunity to participate in the whole range of activities.

Tuesday Evenings – For Pupils in Years 3 – 6 

Sports Club 

The Sports Club meet in the school gymnasium and enjoy a variety of games. Children are given opportunities to develop athletic and team work skills. Games include Basket Ball, Poison Ball, Tennis, Crab Football, Unihoc and Handball. 

Art Club 

Children are given the opportunity to part in a range of Art and Craft activities. Pupils created images in last years’ club to be displayed on the school outdoor walls to make them more attractive. 

Folk Dancing

A number of traditional dances are introduced to the children. This is a popular club where a lot of energy is needed.

ICT Club

This club is held in the computer room and there is an opportunity for pupils to develop their ICT skills.

French Club

Bonjour. An opportunity for the children to learn a third language in this exciting club.

Cooking Club

In this club the children have an opportunity to develop their cooking skills. 

Science Club 

Pupils enjoy the opportunity to participate in different practical Scientific activities. Working in small groups children work inside and outside the classroom to make discoveries to test their predictions.

Drama Club 

Children are encouraged to use their creative skills to develop their confidence in performing. They will have experience of learning songs from popular musicals and learning energetic dance routines.


Breakfast Club

Children are welcome to attend our Breakfast Club which opens its doors each morning at 8:05am. A typical breakfast will see children provided with cereal, toast, fruit and a drink. The club runs in the school hall until 8.40am when the school doors are opened. Children need to arrive before 8.30am. There is no charge for attending the Breakfast Club which is run by Carmarthenshire Catering Department and funded by The Welsh Assembly Government.


After School Club – Clwb yr Enfys

Clwb Hwyl runs each evening from 3pm until 5:55pm, throughout the school week (Monday – Friday). The fee is £10 per session. Children are provided with a healthy snack and can participate in a range of activities. On dry days children can enjoy outdoor activities and the Club is well resourced for days when we have to remain indoors. Parents should register their children before using the club and ensure that a place is available on desired evenings.

Dragon Sport Clubs

Netball 

The Dragon Sports Netball club meet during the Autumn Term. Boys and girls attend the coaching sessions with members of the school staff and the club has been supported by parents, students and pupils from nearby Secondary Schools. 

The emphasis of the coaching is on developing skills in a fun environment. 

Football / Rugby  

The football / rugby club meet on a Wednesday evening throughout the Autumn term. Pupils are given the opportunity to improve their basic skills which include passing, tackling and kicking. 

Cricket 

The Dragon Sports Cricket club meet during the Summer term on the school field. Children are given opportunity to develop their cricket skills by playing a variety of games which include throwing, catching and batting. 

Athletics 

Pupils from Ysgol Grifith Jones participate in the Dragon Sports Mini Decathlon event each year, which includes a variety of running, jumping and throwing events. All pupils are given opportunities to improve their techniques in training sessions led by school staff and Dragon Sports coaches.
