Pupil Development Grant

Ysgol Griffith Jones Development Grant Statement
The Pupil Development Grant is allocated to schools with pupils who come from low income families and who are known to be currently eligible to receive free school meals (e-FSM) and pupils who have been cared for continuously for more than six months (LAC).
Schools are expected to use this funding to the maximum to introduce sustainable strategies that will quickly lead to changes for learners who are eligible to receive free school meals or who are LAC.
As a school we have agreed on the following three steps:

  • identify the target group of pupils, its characteristics and needs
  • planning interventions that make the most effective use of resources
  • monitor and evaluate the impact of resources

In 2024-25 Ysgol Griffith Jones was given a Pupil Deprivation Grant allocation of £31,050.
In 2024-25 Ysgol Griffith Jones was given an Early Years Pupil Development Grant allocation of £5,867.
At Ysgol Griffith Jones we have a comprehensive plan, which has been agreed and monitored by Carmarthenshire Local Authority and ERW, to promote progress and remove barriers to learning for students who are eligible for this funding.

We have used the funding available to:

  • improve learning and teaching by providing a support program – CHATT
  • providing intervention and support programs that have been proven to have the greatest impact and to be sustainable
  • provide high quality specific training for school staff, including CHATT
  • introduce and use data tracking systems to identify learners’ needs, target interventions and monitor impact.
  • working in partnership with other schools, the community and other organisations
  • improve the attendance of the target group through the use of interventions
  • developing leadership capacity to prioritize the impact on the quality of provision and outcomes
  • for learners and their families by ensuring good reading, music and ICT resources.
